Computer Network Operations roles

GCHQ is offering you an exciting opportunity to join our Computer Network Operations team, whether as a university graduate or experienced professional. Our Computer Network Operations team hacks the computers of terrorists and criminals to discover and disrupt their plans.

At GCHQ, we unlock the complex world of communications to keep our nation safe. We work closely with MI5 and MI6, our partners in the intelligence community, to safeguard Britain’s people, interests and businesses from various threats. Think cyber-attacks, espionage, terrorism, and organised crime. We operate under strict legal controls, safeguards and requirements, set by ministers to protect national interests. It’s challenging, varied and meaningful work that you simply won’t find anywhere else.

Our Computer Network Operations roles will suit those from a range of backgrounds, who have a natural intuition and curiosity for technology, computer networks and cyber security. Using reverse engineering, penetration testing and intrusion detection skills, you’ll support national security objectives. With world class training and support, you’ll have all the tools required to carry out our critical mission.

Alternatively, you'll have a thorough understanding of networks and protocols, including experience of securing and protecting software and networks.

Along with an aptitude for problem-solving, you like to keep up with changing technology, and are able to grasp computing concepts and to apply your knowledge above and beyond academia.

At GCHQ we’re proud of our inclusive and supportive working environment that’s designed to encourage open minds and attitudes. As an organisation that values and nurtures talent, we’re committed to helping you fulfil your potential. But you’re not expected to come to us with a wealth of knowledge, or skills, on day one. With comprehensive training and development opportunities, tailored to your personal needs and the requirements of your work, we’ll enable you to flourish in your role and perform to the very best of your abilities.
