To enable you to develop a full range of skills, we’ll actively encourage you to move between the different areas of information management throughout your career. An articulate communicator and team player, you’ll be used to working with complex information in a technical, scientific or information management environment. You’ll build your experience in three core areas:
Open Source Research – Supporting our work with research, report writing, situational awareness, training and information supply, you’ll provide services that cover everything from current affairs and defence right through to advanced technologies.
Content & Information Management – You’ll support our Intranet and EDRM system, and provide training to users, as well as making sure our information and knowledge are securely managed and exploited.
Information Governance – In this area you’ll coordinate all our work on information legislation, architecture and risk management.
You’ll lead a team of Information Specialists, ensuring we deliver an effective and efficient Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) service.
As a visible, supportive and motivational leader, you’ll develop your teams while ensuring they provide an excellent service to the business. This will involve ensuring we share knowledge and information with the wider intelligence community and championing collaborative working. You’ll also support the KIM senior leadership team in setting the unit’s direction and strategy.
You’ll need experience of information work, including the ability to use a range of information sources and technology. A natural leader with a proactive, innovation-led approach, you’ll be used to managing KIM customers, planning services, developing policy and strategy, and setting up and managing task-based teams.
If you’ve recently graduated in a technical, scientific or information-related discipline, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your Information Management, Knowledge Management or Librarianship experience.
As well as the ability to use a range of electronic information resources and systems, you’ll need plenty of initiative and an innovation-led approach. You’ll also be a strong communicator who works effectively in a team. Ideally, you’ll already have experience of customer service and training, and the management of people, information and electronic records, but this isn’t essential.
